How Big Is Your Home? Here Is the Average Home Size by State

average square feet in a house

Basements and garages, even if they are finished, don’t generally count toward total square footage. Basements are typically excluded because they are built below grade, meaning below ground level. If your state does allow basements to be included in the total square footage of a home, though, you’ll likely need an ingress and egress, or a safe way to enter and exit the basement to the outside. Be aware that condominiums have fewer established rules and no ANSI guidelines.

Full roof replacement cost

Most homeowners insurance policies cover roof replacement for damage resulting from an accident or natural disaster. The cost to reshingle a roof is $5,700 to $16,000 on average, depending on the roof size and shingle type. Composite, metal, and natural slate shingles cost the most but last the longest. Roofing material prices are $80 to $250 per square (100 SF) for asphalt shingles or $100 to $800 per square for metal.

How to calculate the square footage of a home (and why it’s important)

The Ascent, a Motley Fool service, does not cover all offers on the market. The states with the smallest homes tend to be located on the East and West Coasts and in the Midwest. The three states with the smallest average homes are Hawaii (1,164 square feet), New York (1,490 square feet), and Iowa (1,623 square feet). Much of the extra space in these splurgy residences is devoted to a bigger master bedroom, larger master bathroom and dual walk-in closets. Before you consider upsizing, think about how long it takes you to clean your current home. Now add time to account for the extra rooms you’ll have to vacuum, the extra toilets you’ll have to scrub, and the extra windows you’ll have to wipe down.

How have home sizes trended over time?

Likewise, if your county or municipality assesses higher taxes than what you think you should owe, confirming the square footage can be a point in your favor toward getting the property taxes reduced. Home sizes are often dedicated by demographics and can change in tandem with the size and composition of an area’s population. In some parts of the country, one factor that may dictate changing home sizes is the age of a population.

Shared living areas

While two different professional appraisers could evaluate the same home and come up with slightly different square footage figures, they do all aim for scientific accuracy. “We’re always shooting for somewhere between 1 to 3 percent variance,” Day says. “Someone might think, ‘If I get the measurement of my first floor and I have a two-story house, I just multiply that by two,’” Day says.

How to Calculate the Square Footage of a House

Roof replacement costs $5,700 to $16,000 on average, depending on the size, pitch, and material. A new roof costs $300 to $600 per square (100 SF) on average, including materials and installation. If you select the option "Multiple rooms/areas" at the top of the calculate, you can enter the measurements for up to ten rooms or areas and get a grand total at the bottom of the calculator of the square footage. For complex room layouts, divide up the room into simple shapes, such as rectangles, squares, etc., and enter each one as a separate room/area. Square footage calculator is an easy tool that enables you to calculate an area in square feet as well as perform conversions, such as finding out how many square feet are in an acre.

There is a lot of confusion surrounding the square footage of a home, likely because of misinformation and a lack of well-known guidelines. That being said, if something seems unclear, more often than not, someone has probably wondered the same thing. Below are some commonly asked questions about how to measure the square footage of a house. To create these tables, we pulled 506,374 listings of houses and condos for sale from Zillow.

Our community web pages make it easy for you to compare square footage against layout and design. You can choose from both townhomes and single-family homes, one-story and two-story homes, and a range of price points. Mobile home roof replacement costs $3 to $8 per square foot on average or $1,500 to $9,600 for a single-wide and $3,000 to $16,000 for a double-wide, depending on the material.

When you buy a new home, thinking about how to measure its square footage probably isn’t top of mind. And while it may seem like an inconsequential metric, it’s one of the most important factors that determine a property’s value. Finally, remember that while square footage is important to your home value, don’t focus on it at the expense of style or your emotional response. Numbers are important, but they are no substitute for the intangibles that make a house feel like a home.

With an average home size of 1,318 square feet, however, the average home in Philadelphia costs $403,598 – among the least of any U.S. city. When it comes to square footage pricing, its usefulness relies on the fact that it allows comparing properties (mostly houses) of different sizes and prices. It's the equivalent of performance per dollar charts of computer parts, for example. In this manner, one could compare a 1500 sq ft with a 500 sq ft and know which one represents a better real state option, looking beyond just the price or the size of them. In fact, this can be used with any other area unit with or without converting from square meters to square feet or acres to square feet - every time we want to make a fair comparison.

As homeowners age, they often downsize their homes, leaving large, family homes for smaller dwellings. According to data from Zillow, 46% of baby boomers who moved in 2021 were downsizing to a smaller home. In recent years, however, skyrocketing real estate prices have driven many Americans from major coastal cities to more affordable suburban ones. From 2020 to 2021, the population of New York City declined by 3.5%, the second largest decline of the top 50 largest cities. The population of San Francisco fell 6.3%, by far the largest decline. Starting with a starter home makes good sense for many hopeful buyers, especially if you’re a young first-time buyer.

Consider the average rental price for homes of a similar size and make sure the numbers line up. Square footage should not be the only deciding factor, but it is certainly an important consideration. Covered, enclosed porches may be included in a home’s gross living area if they are finished, and they are heated using the same system as the rest of the house. But high costs of small homes in the West and Northeast may also be pushing people to look for cheaper, large homes in other parts of the country. From 2020 to 2021, the population of Hawaii declined by 0.7%, the third largest decline of any state. The population of New York declined by 1.6% over the same period, the largest decrease of any state.

Over the past decade with the black lives matter movement I have become more focused on ways in which inclusion can be defined through design with neurodiversity in mind. Block printing on fabric: a simple step by step guide

block printed design

This is a broad category that includes many specific techniques. In Europe, these are frequently called woodcut prints. As artists and craftspeople ourselves, we’ve always sought to support highly specialized artforms and their histories.

Block printing: History, techniques, best supplies, and more

My next project using these block stamps is a wall design in my pantry. After printing is finished, the fabric is washed and hung to dry in the sun. First, dyes are made using traditional methods and recipes. Because the dyes are often natural, slight variations may occur, further adding character to these designs. Every time you make a print remember to re-load your lino with more paint, this is important to achieve a nice crisp print each time.

It's a great way to express your creativity and add a personal touch to your home or wardrobe. There are typically several pattern blocks used, and since it’s done by hand the images never line up perfectly. This is one of the main ways to distinguish hand-block printed fabric from screen/digitally printed alternatives.

Then press the inked design face down firmly and evenly onto fabric or paper. Also be aware of fingers that are holding the linoleum block in place opposite the tool. And it can also be used to cut away excess material from the side of the block to make it easier to handle while stamping. This will ensure the ink from the marker doesn’t come off onto your fabric or paper while printing. Block printing was one of my favorite techniques to experiment with in my printmaking classes in college. But it took some getting used to before I felt really comfortable and confident in what I could create with this new skill.

Consider the areas you would like to be colored with ink, or left as negative space (where there is no color).

Next, place about a tablespoon of paint on the glass and begin rolling it with the foam brayer. Cover the whole brayer until your face covers everything. As far as the different brands of inks, I haven’t found too many bad ones. Your higher end brands will often be the best quality, so you get what you pay for in this scenario. More expensive inks usually will be made with more pigment, they’ll be thicker and more vibrant. Printing on fabric is my absolute favorite way to create.

Reduction block printing

The first step for block printing is coming up with a design. It wasn’t until hundreds of years later when it was eventually adapted to paper, which is now probably the most widely used material for block printing. Initially, block printing fabric was the norm – most often being printed onto silk cloths. It’s easier to carve than wood, making the whole process generally faster and smoother for the artist. Linocut has been particularly popular since the end of the Victorian era, and has been used widely throughout continental Europe and America. As well as her own fabric and wallpaper collections she now runs workshops and tutorials on how to block print at home and has shared a simple step by step guide to follow. Pressing the fabric is a great starting point for your block printing project. This step is important because you need a nice flat surface of fabric to press the blocks onto.

The second stamp comes out lighter which gives it a worn vintage look in different places throughout the towel. Now roll the paint on the brayer onto the pattern on the wooden block stamp. Keep rolling until you cover all the fine details of the design. Just when you think you have it all covered use another fabric to test it. If you're like me and love homemade and vintage, you're in for a treat today.

Katie Mitchell directs a new production of Handel’s oratorio Theodora in January 2022 – a work not seen on the stage at Covent Garden since 1750. An international cast includes American soprano Julia Bullock in the title role and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato as Irene, alongside British tenor Ed Lyon, Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński and Hungarian-Romanian baritone Gyula Orendt. Harry Bicket will conduct and the female-led creative team includes award-winning choreographer Shelley Maxwell. This exciting new take on Handel’s late masterpiece, in which love transcends political tyranny, continues The Royal Opera’s celebration of the operas and oratorios Handel wrote for Covent Garden. Mr. Conlon’s first season as Artistic Advisor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra includes three weeks of concerts, starting with an October 2021 program of music by historically marginalized composers. He returns in February 2022 for performances including Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony and the final scene of Wagner’s Die Walküre, with guest artists Christine Goerke and Greer Grimsley.

The tale, even in its most simplistic form, is testament enough to the gross inequalities and inequities of the time and the fact that Lucia’s brother, Enrico, deliberately plotted, lied, and fabricated to coerce his sister into marrying for his own gain is an act that would warrant unanimous audience repulsion from all quarters. I found certain aspects of the production and direction to be superfluously brutal and bordering on being misandristic. Enrico was a sufficiently unpleasant individual without having him explode with threatening, violent menace when insisting that Lucia marries Arturo. Lucia’s miscarriage is garish, the entire lower half of her body drenched with the blood of her loss, a symbol of the perceived crimes inflicted upon her by men, yet the crime she herself commits, a murder via multiple, stabbing creates no visible blood at all.

However, she quickly proceeded to deliver a mesmerizing rendition of “Regnava nel silenzio” that elicited a, virtually, raucous audience response, before delivering a beautiful and convincing duet with lover Edgardo to close the act. The Royal Opera is one of the world’s leading opera companies and the most important in London. The current music director is Antonio Pappano with Oliver Mears the Director of Opera. The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House is shared with the Royal Ballet and the company has a large permanent chorus. Balancing a rich heritage with more modern fare, The Royal Ballet are not infrequently accused of safe programming (somewhat justifiably). A wealth of Swan Lakes and Nutcrackers every season with new work largely kept to 2-3 new short ballets a year.

This was somewhat remedied with the successful premieres of Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, 2011 and The Winter's Tale, 2014 but the emphasis is still largely on the classics. The company presents around 7-8 full length works and 5-6 mixed bills a year sharing the main stage with the opera company. The Royal Opera's exploration of Handel's Covent Garden operas and oratorios continues with his final masterpiece, Jephtha, which premiered on this site in 1752. This epic new production is staged by Director of The Royal Opera Oliver Mears and is conducted by Handel specialist Laurence Cummings.

Additional leading roles in the United States have taken her for multiples seasons to the stages of Opera de Puerto Rico, Dallas Opera, and Florida Grand Opera, among many others. Cruise Destinations Start your next cruising adventure with P&O Cruises

p & o cruise

A Z-test most often refers to testing the population mean, or the difference between two population means, in particular between two proportions. A high p-value doesn't allow you to reject the null hypothesis. Go to the advanced mode if you need to increase the precision with which the calculations are performed or change the significance level. In the last picture (two-tailed p-value for skewed distribution), the area of the left-hand side is equal to the area of the right-hand side. P&O combines extraordinary British service with beautiful and unique destinations all over the world.

Meaning of P, p in English

Each P&O ship offers a different cruising experience, but you’ll be sure to find genuine and attentive service from knowledgeable staff happy to help in any way they can. Welcome packs for the children on the ship, stewards remembering a favorite drink and a nightly turndown service are just a few of the many perks you'll experience. Throughout its known history it has represented the unvoiced labial stop. It corresponds to the Semitic pe, perhaps deriving from an earlier sign for "mouth." The Greeks renamed this form pi (Π). Dining options are plentiful and include formal restaurants, food courts, tapas bars and pizzerias. During days at sea, relax at the pool, try out the sports court or catch a new movie in the onboard cinema.

p Business English

Use the χ²-score option when performing a test in which the test statistic follows the χ²-distribution. With cruise holidays starting from just two nights, British Isles cruises are an ideal way to take time out from a busy lifestyle. A low p-value is evidence in favor of the alternative hypothesis – it allows you to reject the null hypothesis.

Word of the Day

The English initial p is slightly aspirated—that is, it is accompanied by a slight puff of breath—in contrast to the unaspirated p of French, for example. Initial p is silent in the combinations ps and pt in such Greek-derived words as psychology and pterodactyl. A rounded form occurred in the early Greek inscriptions from the island of Thera. The standard rounded form in the Latin alphabet was evidently borrowed from the Etruscan, but the colonial Latin alphabet of the 3rd century bce also shows an angular form resembling the Chalcidic.

St Peter Port, Guernsey, UK

Well, you now know how to calculate the p-value, but… why do you need to calculate this number in the first place? In hypothesis testing, the p-value approach is an alternative to the critical value approach. Recall that the latter requires researchers to pre-set the significance level, α, which is the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis when it is true (so of type I error).

Poisson distribution

The probability distributions that are most widespread in hypothesis testing tend to have complicated cdf formulae, and finding the p-value by hand may not be possible. You'll likely need to resort to a computer or to a statistical table, where people have gathered approximate cdf values. The USA is rich with history and abundant with natural beauty. Each port offers a unique and special experience with a variety of wonders waiting to be explored. New England is a beautiful and distinctly American region, there are spectacular sandy beaches, mansions, vineyards and marinas, alongside such historical sites as Boston, the birthplace of the American Revolution.

p. American Dictionary

The Umbrian alphabet had a two-stroke form that recalled the ancient Semitic, and Faliscan had a rounded form that resembled a modern P flipped right-to-left. Oscan lengthened the second small vertical stroke found in the Umbrian form, and the result was similar to the Greek Π. To see where those degrees of freedom come from, consider the independent random variables X and Y, which both follow the χ²-distributions with d1 and d2 degrees of freedom, respectively. In that case, the ratio (X/d1)/(Y/d2) follows the F-distribution, with (d1, d2)-degrees of freedom. For this reason, the two parameters d1 and d2 are also called the numerator and denominator degrees of freedom.

p & o cruise

Lighthouses are scattered along the picturesque coastline where whale watching is a major draw. Head further south and you reach the most iconic of American cities - New York. There's something truly breathtaking about gliding serenely by the Statue of Liberty - a sight that has greeted millions of travellers before. New York cruises have to be on everyone's 'must do' list for that sight alone. Finally, the F-score option should be used when you perform a test in which the test statistic follows the F-distribution, also known as the Fisher–Snedecor distribution. The exact shape of an F-distribution depends on two degrees of freedom.

Examples of p in a Sentence

🙋 To get more insights into t-statistics, we recommend using our t-test calculator. All content on this website, including dictionary, thesaurus, literature, geography, and other reference data is for informational purposes only. This information should not be considered complete, up to date, and is not intended to be used in place of a visit, consultation, or advice of a legal, medical, or any other professional. These examples are programmatically compiled from various online sources to illustrate current usage of the word 'p.' Any opinions expressed in the examples do not represent those of Merriam-Webster or its editors.

Once you have your p-value, you just need to compare it with any given α to quickly decide whether or not to reject the null hypothesis at that significance level, α. For details, check the next section, where we explain how to interpret p-values. We use the Z-score if the test statistic approximately follows the standard normal distribution N(0,1). Thanks to the central limit theorem, you can count on the approximation if you have a large sample (say at least 50 data points) and treat your distribution as normal. For instance, if the p-value was 0.03, we would reject the null hypothesis at a significance level of 0.05, but not at a level of 0.01.

That's why the significance level should be stated in advance and not adapted conveniently after the p-value has been established! A significance level of 0.05 is the most common value, but there's nothing magical about it. Here, you can see what too strong a faith in the 0.05 threshold can lead to. It's always best to report the p-value, and allow the reader to make their own conclusions. 🙋 If you want to revise some basics from statistics, our normal distribution calculator is an excellent place to start. The minuscule letter resembles the majuscule, the chief difference being that the loop is brought down to the level of the line of writing and the vertical stroke is extended below the line.

In the evening, choose from numerous bars and lounges, a casino, comedy acts and other specialty shows, theme nights and more. A common digraph in English is ⟨ph⟩, which represents the sound /f/, and can be used to transliterate ⟨φ⟩ phi in loanwords from Greek. In German, the digraph ⟨pf⟩ is common, representing a labial affricate /pf/. The Semitic Pê (mouth), as well as the Greek Π or π (Pi), and the Etruscan and Latin letters that developed from the former alphabet, all symbolized /p/, a voiceless bilabial plosive. Suffice to say, it’s all a little different than the usual hidden features on cruise ships. We know how important an impromptu getaway can be, so be sure to check out our constantly updated last-minute cruise deals.

There are even expedition ships that allow you to get up close and personal with nature. Give the gift of travel, whether for a birthday, anniversary, holiday or another occasion. Celebrate a milestone with the promise of memories they’ll cherish for a lifetime. A Princess Gift Card is both easy to buy and redeem – and can be used toward the purchase of a cruise or for onboard purchases, including shore excursions, specialty dining, and spa treatments.

Step 1. Book your next cruise while you're on a cruise.

My husband and I scouted out the best cruises for kids when our own children were young, and since becoming empty nesters, we’ve found the best adults-only cruises and couples cruises. For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices. There are plenty of ways to get more bang for your buck when you sail on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Every ship in the fleet offers a range of delicious complimentary dining options, but you can dig into even more crave-worthy flavor by purchasing a Specialty Dining Package for less ahead of your cruise.

That said, booking a cruise at the last minute can also yield some unexpected savings — but only if the itinerary you’re interested in hasn’t sold out yet. Choose from the best cruise deals and specials from a variety of cruise lines, destinations, departure ports, sailing dates and cruise lengths. For those who are all about being pampered, Seabourn is ready to meet your every need.

When it comes to planning the ultimate getaway, there are so many reasons why cruise vacations rank among the most popular travel options. On a cruise vacation, all the planning is taken care of by the cruise line — from the destinations you sail to and the shore excursions available at each port, to a full range of entertainment and activities happening onboard every day. If you’re not a planner, or if the only things you’re looking to focus on during your getaway is savoring great food, relaxing, and soaking up the sights, cruise vacations are the way to go. A cruise vacation is also a great option if you’re traveling with the whole family, especially when you opt for a Royal Caribbean cruise.

Their all-suite ships and all-inclusive pricing ensure a luxurious cruise experience, whether you’re doing an eight-day cruise down the Pacific Gold Coast or spending 140 days of Extraordinary Discoveries on a world cruise. Ships are small and intimate, with one of the highest space-per-guest ratios in the industry. You’ll also be treated to exclusive dining options, including the acclaimed restaurant The Grill by Thomas Keller. As an avid cruiser who’s been everywhere from Alaska and Iceland to Russia and the United Arab Emirates aboard cruise ships, I’m recommending these specific cruise lines based on my own experiences and those of my friends and colleagues.

Although they’re known best for their Caribbean itineraries—good for a quick weekend getaway—Carnival also sails to many other destinations, including Europe, Mexico and Hawaii. You’ll travel aboard the National Geographic–Lindblad fleet—expedition ships that can navigate narrow waterways and small harbors that aren’t accessible on larger vessels, so you can get as close as possible to amazing sights. The ships are even equipped with kayaks or paddleboards, snorkeling gear and Zodiacs, and hydrophones and underwater cameras for further exploration. Your Facebook friends will understand when you bombard them with photos. If you’re looking for something a little more kitsch, these themed cruises will be right up your alley.

Here are a couple of additional ways to save, if relevant to your booking. We've detected that you appear to be using Internet Explorer to access this site. Unfortunately, this site is designed to make use of several modern web technologies and standards that are not supported by Internet Explorer. From birthdays to anniversaries or other special occasions, our Celebration Group Program gives you more reasons to celebrate with a choice of incredible perks and great flexibility. Go from lounging on the deck to decking the halls aboard an effortless Princess holiday cruise.

Add a Specialty Beverage Package — which includes unlimited alcoholic beverages, soda, and more — and your experience is as close to all-inclusive as it gets. And with so many complimentary shows and attractions onboard, you can easily fill every sea day without spending a single dollar extra. Staterooms are eye-opening as well, featuring transformational cabin beds that allow guests (referred to as “Sailors”) to customize their space. Opt for a suite and you’ll be considered—and treated like—”Rock Stars,” given VIP access to everything from onboard entertainment and restaurants to exclusive amenities like your own wardrobe team. With a huge selection of fitness classes, 20 included places to eat and drink, and original out-of-the-box shows, this adults-only line is likely to turn a whole new generation of cruise virgins into sailors. In addition to seeing penguins, polar bears and reindeer, travelers are surrounded by stunning landscapes on and off the ship.

It’s an age-old question — does the early bird really get the worm, or are there perks to taking a “wait-and-see” approach? If you’re booking a cruise vacation, you’ll find there are benefits to both strategies. Planning ahead is a great way to score big savings, as Royal Caribbean often runs early saver deals to guests booking well in advance. It’s also pretty safe to assume prices usually go up as availability goes down the closer you get to your sail date, so booking ahead is a surefire way to lock in a great rate.

A unique, fun and educational option for families with older kids who want to experience nature with a touch of Disney magic, these expedition cruises are the stuff of lifelong memories. Small, purpose-built ships are designed to access the remote landscapes of the Polar Regions and the Galápagos Islands—and to appeal to both kids and adults. Furthermore, Cruise Critic makes no guarantees for availability of prices advertised on our site.

Despite a rocky couple of years due to the pandemic, cruising is back, and it’s stronger than ever. In fact, travel insurance comparison site SquareMouth.com reported a 41% increase in the number of travelers taking cruises in 2022 compared with 2019. Cruising has come a long way, and now, rather than cookie-cutter ships and itineraries, the best cruise lines are offering options that appeal to a wide variety of travelers. There are mega ships that can hold almost 7,000 guests, and small ships geared toward a couple hundred guests or less.

Navigator of the Seas and Mariner of the Seas are second-generation Voyager-class vessels, and feature glass stateroom balconies that extend out from the superstructure of the ship and a larger Windjammer buffet area. Royal Caribbean International (RCI), previously known as Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL), is a cruise line brand founded in 1968 in Norway and organized as a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Group since 1997. Based in Miami, Florida, it is the largest cruise line by revenue and second largest by passengers counts. In 2018, Royal Caribbean International controlled 19.2% of the worldwide cruise market by passengers and 14.0% by revenue.[1] As of January 2024,[update] the line operates 28 ships and has three additional ships on order.

"Why no straws?" signs at onboard bars fleetwide now indicate that drink orders will not automatically receive a straw, but only upon request. In February RCG purchased land ("multiple real estate parcels") on Paradise Island's (Bahamas) western coast, at the cost of ~USD 54 million (~EUR 50 million). In mid-March 2020 was announced RCI's second private resort property (after Fort James in St Johns Antigua) - Royal Beach Club Bahamas (at Paradise Island, close to Nassau). In December RCI ended its partnership with Ben & Jerry's Homemade Holdings Inc (1978-founded company that manufactures premium ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet).

In general, Royal Caribbean's big, resort-like Icon Class, Oasis Class and Quantum Class ships will be more expensive than the line's older, smaller vessels (Icon Class ships are particularly pricey). However, there are a lot of factors that go into pricing for any given cruise, including the popularity of the specific itinerary, the time of year when the cruise is taking place and changing demand trends. If you know you want to eat at a few extra-charge restaurants during your voyage, you can buy one of several dining packages that offer meals at a discount. The smaller ships also appeal to a subset of Royal Caribbean fans who like a little more intimacy in a cruise vessel and don't mind giving up some onboard amenities to get it. These ships are also often less expensive for travelers on a per-day basis. While not necessarily the focus at Royal Caribbean, these smaller ships, which in general are the line's older ships, allow it to offer itineraries to places that aren't as easy for big ships to visit.

You also might only have to put down a reduced deposit of as little as $100 per person to hold the sailing. Given TPG's origins as a points and miles website, we'd be remiss if we didn't remind you to maximize your credit card points while making purchases on Royal Caribbean ships. The way to do this is to tie a credit card that offers extra points for travel purchases to your onboard account.

When sailing on Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class and Quantum-class ships, you also can use the line's online portal or app to pre-book shows in advance. We're talking about the Broadway musicals and ice shows found on these vessels. You may request the nontransferable credit each time you cruise. The credit applies only to the stateroom where the shareholder is staying and is based on double occupancy.

Deals range from free drinks in the casino to deals on Royal Caribbean cruises (including for family and friends) all the way up to free annual cruises for high rollers. Royal Caribbean cruise deals aren't hard to find, but sometimes they're hard to decipher. It usually takes a lot of digging and a little math to unearth real Royal Caribbean deals. But once you know what to look for -- and where and when to look -- spotting deals becomes easier. Royal Caribbean is the world's largest cruise line, with a large fleet of ships that cater to a wide range of traveler types.

✔ Decide Your Itinerary & Book

Planning your next epic family vacation starts today onboard Rhapsody of the Seas, a mid-sized cruise ship that is part of the Royal Caribbean Vision Class. Customized adventures, exclusive access and inclusive amenities. Luxury cruise suite accommodations on Royal Caribbean elevate every aspect of your adventure. From full-size tubs in Junior suites to 24-hour room service in Owner Suites and dedicated check-in for Royal Suite class, it’s little details you’d expect — plus elevated experiences you may have never imagined. All Radiance-class ships have a gross tonnage of 90,090 and environmentally friendlier gas turbine engines.

Every Royal Caribbean ship has a casino, and on the line's bigger vessels, these are big operations. The Casino Royale on Oasis of the Seas sprawls with 450 slot machines, 27 table games (including blackjack, roulette and craps) and a poker room, plus its very own bar. The casinos on the four other Oasis Class ships are similarly giant. Even more "wow," as Royal Caribbean executives like to say, are the ice skating shows put on at the ice skating rinks found on 14 of the line's ships. The rinks are in the interiors of the ships, surrounded by stadium seating for up to 775 people, and the shows are out of this world.

And, even if they do, you'll probably never see any of them again, so it doesn't matter what they think. When you first arrive at a Royal Caribbean ship, you'll be greeted by porters who will whisk away your luggage. This is a great convenience, as there's no need to haul your bags through the entire check-in progress. But it also means you might not have access to your luggage for many hours on your first day on board. That's right, you now have to pick an arrival time when heading to a Royal Caribbean ship, and passengers who check in early get the widest array of arrival slots from which to choose.

That said, booking a cruise at the last minute can also yield some unexpected savings — but only if the itinerary you’re interested in hasn’t sold out yet.

The trick is to do the research in advance, so you have a plan for the best way to spend your day. In addition to extra toiletries, Royal Caribbean regulars often bring Clorox wipes or something similar to wipe down surfaces in their cabin upon arrival (and to bring along on shore excursions). In addition to the fall months, the offseason period for Royal Caribbean cruises generally includes parts of January and February, but it varies by region.
